The City of Yonkers
Age: 38
Bio: Velez-Goldberg was
born, raised and educated in
the Bronx. After graduating
from high school, she enrolled
in the forensic psychology pro-
gram at the John Jay College of
Criminal Justice, where she
earned a bachelor's degree.
As director of the Office of
Film and Photography for Ma-
yor Mike Spano and the City
of Yonkers, Velez-Goldberg
manages film-production ne-
eds, offering assistance to fil-
mmakers and providing per-
mits to film in the City. Since
assuming this position in 2014,
permits and filming in the City
have increased to a record high.
In addition to her duties
with the Office of Film and
Photography, she also serves
as a senior assistant to Spano,
as well as the liaison to the
Hispanic community. One of
her major achievements in
working with the mayor was
the expansion of the mayor's
Hispanic Advisory Board,
where she was responsible
for organizing and assisting in
the selection of the members
of this forum that gives the
City's Hispanic people a place
to discuss issues.
Prior to her appointment
to Spano's administration,
Velez-Goldberg was emplo

yed by NYC & Company, tou-
rism, marketing and adver-
tising agency. She began as
an executive assistant to the
president and CEO in 2005
and quickly rose through the
ranks, achieving the position
of assistant producer, where
she oversaw production of all
radio, TV and public service
announcements for the City
of New York.
She has been honored by
the YWCA of Yonkers during
Women's History Month with
their Empowerment Award.
She has also been honored
by Entre Nosotras Inc. for her
accomplishments as a Puerto
Rican/Hispanic woman and
for her contributions to the
advancement of the Puerto
Rican/Hispanic community.
