HOME MAY 2019 6 MILWAUKEE — For today's homeowners, the remodeling possibilities are endless. To showcase some of the best remodels in the Milwaukee area, 15 local homes will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 and May 19 during the 20th annual NARI Milwaukee Tour of Remodeled Homes. Tickets are $15 in advance online and $20 at the door — a portion of the ticket pro- ceeds will support the Auro- ra Health Foundation's Team Phoenix, cancer sur- vivor initiative. Visit nari- tourofremodeledhomes.org for more information and to purchase tickets. During the Tour of Remodeled Homes, see first- hand how a traditional kitchen can be opened up and transformed into a home chef's dream space. Take a walk through a luxu- ry master bath complete with a steam shower and soaking tub. And, you don't want to miss updated and expanded family rooms, mudrooms — one even has a dog washing station — and garages. See before-and- after images and talk to the designers who took a home- owner's dream and turned it into reality. NARI Aurora Cancer Care House Soirée In 2017, NARI Milwaukee partnered with the Aurora Health Foundation to create a special fundraising event to kick off its annual Tour of Remodeled Homes. This year, the VIP charity event is being held May 17 at a spectacular Whitefish Bay home near Lake Michi- gan that was recently remodeled by J&J Contrac- tors, a long-standing NARI Milwaukee member. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will sup- port Team Phoenix, an Aurora Health Foundation initiative that assists cancer survivors to regain endurance, strength, flexi- bility and overall health and wellness after cancer treatment by training for a sprint-distance triathlon. All funds raised through the NARI Aurora Cancer Care House Soirée will be matched by the Ruud Fami- ly Foundation. Tickets for the evening are $150 and include hors d'oeuvres, sparkling bever- ages, live music and admis- sion to the weekend's Tour of Remodeled Homes. Over the past two years, NARI Milwaukee has raised $25,000 for the Aurora Can- cer Care Foundation. NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes to spotlight updates, amenities 15 houses open May 18-19 in Waukesha, Milwaukee counties Photo courtesy of Milwaukee NARI The remodeled kitchen and great room are part of the work done by Renovations Group, Inc, at a home at 3261 S. El Dorado Drive, New Berlin. The 1960s ranch home — one of 15 homes on the Milwaukee NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes — is on a beautiful lot in New Berlin, but to make it work today with an active, younger family and still be a "forever home," several substantial changes were made. The large family room and a master suite addition with a full basement were added to the back of the home. By extending the basement floor of the addition 2 feet deeper than the existing, it created a taller space. The addition placement allowed the existing kitchen to be completely remodeled, expanding into the dining room, and opening into the new family room. The new kitchen incorporates beautifully painted cabinets, stone tops, and a farm-style sink. The separate bar area provides an entertaining oasis while adding serving space for larger family gatherings. Dramatic black window frames, sashes, and millwork provide a striking contrast to the bright, warm walls while the 9-foot ceilings and large windows flood the living space with natural light. The sun porch began the renovations. The walls were rebuilt to accommodate larger windows which include removable storms to allow full view to the surrounding conser- vancy. A tongue-and-groove ceiling and new tiled floor finished the room. The next project was the lower level, which included a new egress window to create an additional bedroom and a remodeled bathroom. A wet bar was added, along with all new flooring, lighting and trims. After the basement was finished, renovations started on the kitchen and living spaces. A new 8-foot patio door replaced an old bay window for more views to the outside. All new cabinets, appliances, quartz countertops and honed marble backsplash were installed. The first-floor powder room was reconfigured and new cabinetry, countertop, lighting and fixtures complete the renovation.
