Cancer Survivor's Day is a large-scale, fun-fi lled, outdoor event that will celebrate local cancer survivors, caregivers, families, and cancer center providers and staff. This event will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 11am – 2pm, on site at the hospital located at 201 E. Grover Street, Shel- by, NC 28150. Previously celebrated as the Walk For Hope in Cleveland County, the Walk for Hope has been a staple event for Levine Cancer Institute-Cleveland, and the HealthCare Founda- tion of Cleveland County, for the past 9 years. Each year, this event has brought aware- ness to the burden of cancer so many face in Cleveland County, raised money for the local Because We Care Fund, and provided a platform to celebrate cancer survivors while remembering those lost. The fi rst annual Cancer Sur- vivors Day will hold true to the core components of the Walk For Hope, as our HealthCare Foundation will offer T-Shirt sales, fundrais- ing teams for the Because We Care Fund, and a short ceremony with a butterfl y release tribute to those loved ones lost. To date, the Foundation has provided over $250,000 in emergency assistance for more than 400 Cleveland County cancer pa- tients. As part of the evolution of this event into Cancer Sur- vivors Day, there will be a new location, new activities, food, music, and outdoor fun! The event will have a coun- try-western theme this year with the tag line "Survivors, Saddles, & Spurs". Everyone is encouraged to put on west- ern attire and come out and enjoy the festivities. The event will feature free lunch, free chair massages, line dancing (performance and lessons with K.U.S. Line Dancers and Always Step- ping Line Dancing troop), BINGO (with prizes), a jew- elry sale, and other outdoor activities. There will also be a can goods drive for the new Cancer Patient Food Pantry at Levine Cancer Institute - Cleveland. Attendees are asked to bring a donation of canned goods to the event.
