JANUARY 2013 Freeman Brookfield & Elm Grove Page 3A Local leaders share 2013 New Years resolutions Personally, Ponto said he resolves to appreciate good health and to make an effort to enhance his own health and that of his family in the coming year. By Kirsten Klahn Special to The Freeman Steve Ponto, Brookfield mayor As a government official, Ponto said one of his New Year resolutions is to keep the Serenity Prayer of Reinhold Niebuhr in mind as he faces public issues in 2013. Ponto states the prayer thusly: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference. For the city of Brookfield, Ponto said he hopes to build on community events in 2013, such as the German holiday tree lighting. Daniel Ertl, Brookfield community development director Ertl said his personal resolution for the New Year is to have a winter filled with snow for skiing.
