C-2 Church Wednesday, July 25, 2018 The Press-Dispatch Continued in next column Continued from page 1 CHURCH NOTE DEADLINE 10 A.M. EVERY TUESDAY Did you know that when a dog sees their human companion, their brain secretes the same substances as ours when we are in love? This week PAWS is featuring an awesome young gal named Panda, who has an indomitable spirit, is extremely ener- getic, cheerful and loves to exercise with the vol- unteers, as well as her fel- low canines at PAWS. Panda can be a bit shy at first meeting, but warms up quickly to any- one who shows her af- fection. She is a smooth coated terrier, who has glossy black and white fur, not quite two years old, spayed, has all her shots and can be adopt - ed for $ 60, by calling 812- 354-9894. Look for PAWS pets, available for adoption this Saturday at the JayC Store parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come find your fur ever friend. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the PANDA Baptist Continued on page 3 Church of God Independent Independent Pastor 812-582-0756 Sunday morning worship at 10 :15 a.m., children's Sun- day school during morning service. We will no longer be having Wednesday night service, until school starts back up in August. "He sets the poor on high and make their families like a flock" (Psalm 107:41). One of the primary rea- son for the breakdown in the home is that we have forgot- ten God's commands about marriage. God gave mar- riage to us, and His stan- dards haven't changed. Je- sus said, "A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife...There- fore what God hath joined to- gether, let not man separate" (Matthew 19:5 -6). Divorce was not part of God's origi- nal design- -nor is it now. The Bible declares, "The God of Israel says that He hates di- vorce" (Mal. 2:16). Mar- riage is a symbol of the uni- ty between Christ and His church- -a unity that should never be torn. No marriage is beyond repair with God's help. We must humble ourselves and put aside our pride and self- will. We must put others ahead of ourselves. If di- vorce has happened to you, God can forgive the past, he- al the present, and give hope for the future. If you are mar- ried, treasure your spouse as a gift from God, and yield your marriage to Christ. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your presence will be greatly ap- preciated and I am sure you will receive God blessings. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter ARTHUR G.B. CHURCH 5670 S. Joseph Roman, Pastor Clara Walls, Reporter Catholic STS PETER & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH 711 Walnut Street Petersburg 812-354-6942 Mass schedule: Saturday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 29 at 11 a.m., Seven- teenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Rosary is prayed before the Saturday evening mass and before the Sunday morning mass. Individual Confessions 30 minutes be- fore the week-end masses at 5 p.m. and 10 :30 a.m. Did you know—The word: rosary: comes from the Lat- in word ""rosarium" mean- ing a rose garden; there- fore praying the Rosary is like giving a Rose to our Lady with each Hail Mary. Already in the 13th centu- ry May devotions honoring Mary began to be practiced in the Church. Pray the Rosary daily— Message from the Legion of Mary. Scripture Quotation: "Come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest awhile" (Mark 6:31). Do you spend time, every day, alone and in silence and listening to how God is call- ing you? If not, you are miss- ing out on a wonderful op- portunity to develop a more personal relationship with Him. Unless, we talk and more importantly, listen to God every day, how else will we know how He is calling us? Consider making a re- treat this year, spend some "alone" time with God. God Bless America. Knowledge I was said, "No teacher can make scholars out of truants and no preacher can make saints out of absentee members." I believe it is Je- sus that makes saints out of folk who come to Him. Live in Peace and Prayer "Do all that you can to live in peace with ev- eryone." (Romans 12:18, NLT). This can be a hard verse to take, and remember in our day to day lives. We do not always want to forgive or show peace and compas- sion to those that wrong us or have wronged us. Real- ly this is one of the hard- est things to do as a Chris- tian. Having the ability to show forgiveness and peace in a aggressive situ- ation can almost seem im- possible. As we all know nothing is impossible with God, so we need to pray for the ability to forgive and to show peace to that person. Does this mean that we should let them walk on us? No. Does it mean that we should let the same sit- uation happen again? No. But what it does mean is that we should not hold this person accountable for this or judge them as being mean, cruel or hard heat- ed. For one, it is not our place to judge it is Gods. Secondly, showing peace and compassion to some- one can mean that you let them speak and listen. Ar- guing with them and add- ing to the conflict is a deci- sion. Be peaceful and just pray. Talk to God and he will show you what to do and say to remain peace- ful in any situation. God bless you and keep you. See our Facebook page Glezen Revival Center.
