She works at a Popeye's making $7.25 an hour, and relies on food stamps to make ends meet. She works hard, but isn't even making enough to live on her own. "I can't support myself on $7.25," she said. "I can't even take care of myself. I'm in a position where I have to rely on my daugh- ter. I have to live with my daughter. And that's not right." "It should be the other way around. They should be relying on me. I should be able to buy birthday presents. I can't even do that. I'm tired of relying on the system and I'm working person," Coleman added. Coleman was one of the speakers at Monday's "Give America a Raise" bus tour in Milwaukee. Americans United for Change, a liberal advocacy group, is traveling through 11 states on its bus tour to share its support for President Barack Obama's plan to raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 per hour. Local leaders and low-wage work- ers met at the Coggs Human Services Center, 1220 W. Vliet St., to discuss why the minimum wage should be increased.
