Online you will fi nd the Mil- waukee Tavern league website, Safe Ride of Milwaukee County facebook page for further information. I would like to take the time to mention a few of the members' events and donations. The nearly 250 members of the local Milwaukee League truly live by the mission statement that Says "Friends and Neighbors helping Friends and Neighbors". This list is only a small sampling of the many and very different donations that are made. The local league awarded a $1,000 scholarship to a student in the culinary arts department of MATC. Any student who at- tends a school of higher- learn- ing in Milwaukee County can apply for this scholarship. It is suggested that courses be in the hospitality fi eld, be it hotel/ motel, bartending, culinary arts, management, and business accounting . The Milwaukee County Tavern League applica- tion is available online. Member's Pitch's Lounge/Res- taurant, Pitch's Express on Lin- coln Memorial Drive, and Miss Katie's Diner have opened up their locations on specifi c days each month as a desig- nated "Memory Café" where a person ex- periencing memory loss can spend time with other folks and their care partners in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Contact either of these fi ne members for details as to dates and times. MCHA Foundation (the Milwaukee Tavern League charity arm) held a "thank you" event for the in-house veteran residents at Zablocki Veterans Center Domiciliary #123 on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Three gift bags for 120 veterans were awarded as they enjoyed cake, cupcakes, and soda. The dona- tions from generous partners totaled $3,700. It was a day of music too, as the vets were entertained by the LAB JAZZ musicians from the Milwaukee High School of the Arts, who were also presented with a donation of $500 from the Foundation. A matching funds request for a like contribution from the Wisconsin Tavern League Foundation will be submitted. A two-year contribution of $600 was awarded to Wilson Park Premier Youth Baseball association, which provides training in baseball rules, cooperation and good sportsmanship, and game time for 500 local boys and girls at two local youth baseball fi elds.
