He earned 21 merit badges, served as a troop leader and com- pleted a community service project to earn the award. Ewert's service project was to lead the troop in build- ing two "walk-up" garden boxes for the elderly to use at the Village at Manor Park Nursing Home, West Allis, where his grandmother lives. The boxes allow the res- idents to enjoy both flower and vegetable gardening without having to kneel or stoop to the ground. Friends and family joined Ewert for a celebration of the award on July 27 at Elm Grove Lutheran. He is a graduate of Waukesha North High School and is now studying information technology at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater.
