More than 900 new students joined the district this fall, having moved from 25 different states and 15 coun- tries spanning five continents. Chief Infor mation Officer Chris Thompson said the enrollment growth — which matches last year's and exceeded district expectations — stands out from previous years. "We've always had a diverse popula- tion of students and families — typi- cally, we've counted that about 35 or 36 different languages are spoken in the homes of our students," Thompson said. "But we looked at new enroll- ments in the last five weeks before school started and noticed the diversi- ty of the new families." With the district's proximity to some of the county's largest employ- ers, a major driver of enrollment growth is corporate transfers and short-ter m placements, Thompson said.
