Western Open Fiddle Championships
Some of the finest fiddlers of all ages and backgrounds gather at the Western Open Fiddle Championships at the Tehama District Fairground in mid-October.
The fiddles have been gathering in Red Bluff for more than a quarter century and the competition is fierce, but friendly. After watching the fid- dling competition, there's a country dance. And some
of the best fiddling can be caught late in the evening as fiddlers jam with each other around their camp- sites at the Fairground. Winners from Red Bluff go on to compete at the nation- al contest in Weiser, Idaho. The fun starts days before the competition, as fiddlers spontaneously meet at sponsoring businesses all over town to show off their musical talent.
