Is there any danger of it being flooded by lava or otherwise destroyed?" The above is from a letter received in this city yesterday by a real estate man that has been dickering with a gentleman in San Francisco for the sale of a ranch in Tehama County. It is the best evidence in the world that the reports send out from northern California concerning the eruptions or Mount Lassen are hurting Tehama County. Considering that the letter was written by a gentleman no further away than San Francisco it can readily be understood what the people of the east and middle west must think of our volcano. San Francisco people ought to know enough of the geography of this end of the state to know that there is practically no danger whatever to the people of the Sacramento valley from the eruptions of Mount Lassen. If we are unable to make San Francisco people understand the topography of the county adjacent to Lassen, what chance have we to convince the people outside of our state that we are not in imminent peril from molten lava and red hot rocks? It is apparent that the lurid reports of the Lassen eruptions are hurting Tehama County. Many good land deals have been declared off because of the belief that the Sacramento Valley is about to be run full of lava and ashes. The people of Red Bluff are in no danger, and real estate values should not suffer by reason of the fanciful creations of space writers in metropolitan newspapers.
