Fifty-nine year old Kim A. Sikorski is facing one count of retail theft. If convicted on the felony charge, he faces up to 3 1/2 years in prison. According to the complaint against him, video surveillance at the Walmart recorded Sikorski loading his cart with three laptops and two cameras, worth approximately $1,315. Sikorski then proceeded to the store's lawn and garden section and was observed looking around for one to two minutes before allegedly entering the parking lot and leaving in his vehicle. According to the complaint, a loss prevention employee alleged Sikorski had committed retail thefts at a dozen other Walmart stores across Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri. Sikorski is due in court for a prelimi- nary hearing on Nov. 6. Milwaukee man charged with identity theft WAUKESHA — A Milwaukee man has been charged after he allegedly used identi- ty information belonging to a customer of the store he worked at to buy items without the owner's authorization. Johnny Wilder, 24, was charged last week in Waukesha County Circuit Court with eight counts of identity theft, each punish- able by up to six years in prison if he is con- victed. According to the criminal complaint in the case, Wilder helped a customer set up a credit account at Sears in Brookfield Square on July 13, when the man bought a TV. But Wilder allegedly used the man's credit information to buy things without the man's knowledge over the next week, including a tablet computer, headphones, an Xbox, and a vacuum cleaner, the com- plaint said. A Sears representative said Friday he had no comment as the matter was still under investigation. Milwaukee teen allegedly led police on car chase WAUKESHA — A 16-year-old Milwaukee boy was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court last week after he allegedly led police on a chase on the freeway that reached speeds of 102 mph. Xavier Sawyer, 16, was charged with one count of fleeing an officer and faces up to 3 1/2 years in prison if convicted. A criminal complaint said a State Patrol trooper on eastbound Interstate 94 on July 21 saw Sawyer's vehicle come up behind him at about 83 mph. When the officer tried to stop the vehicle east of Barker Road, Sawyer accelerated to 102 mph and had difficulty keeping the minivan in its lane, the complaint said. The officer terminated pursuit near the county line, but a Greenfield officer pur- sued Sawyer until he crashed into a utility pole, the complaint said. Sawyer admitted his license was suspended, the complaint said. AREA BRIEFS Post Staff MILWAUKEE — The second annual Soles for Catholic Education walk is taking stride. The second annual walk will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 25 at Mount Mary University, 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway. Approximately 9,000 alumni, students, par- ents and supporters of Catholic education are expected to participate in this event. "This event is a labor of love. We're so excited to be gathering as a community to celebrate Catholic education. Catholic schools have educated children in south- eastern Wisconsin for more than 170 years and have positively impacted them and their families, as well as the community at large. We need to ensure that Catholic schools remain accessible and affordable for all," Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki said in a release. Last year, more than 7,000 walkers par- ticipated in the inaugural walk, raising more than $348,000 for tuition assistance for each school that participated. Mary and John Stollenwerk Jr. and Ann and Christopher Swain are co-chairs of this year's walk. Schools will once again collect shoes for those in need. The shoes will be distributed through St. Vincent de Paul stores in south- eastern Wisconsin. Last year, walkers collected more than 9,000 shoes in a "Stuff The Bus" program.
