Everyday fresh and crafted goods are selected with you in mind from the fi nest artisans in Northern and Central
California. United introduces our local vendors that with you make Healthy Choices for you and your family.
Pie making has always been a tradition in my
family. Our recipes were passed down from my
great grandmother, to my nana and then to my
mom, Mamie, who taught me how to make
their delicious New England pies. Whether
I'm making our McIntosh apple pie, or our
whipped pumpkin with molasses and brown
sugar or our sweet and tart strawberry rhubarb,
I'm always reminded of my wonderful family
gatherings in New Hampshire. Two years ago I
decided to bring a little taste of New England
to the West Coast and United Market was the
fi rst grocer to carry my pies! Mamie's Pies are
unbaked and frozen so you just pop them in
the oven right from the freezer. Now you're
ready to enjoy the aroma and taste of a fresh
baked New England pie right at home!

LOCAL DESSERTS
Bordenave's history began in 1918, when
Frank Bordenave arrived in the United States
from France where he worked as a baker.
Frank opened a bakery that was then called
Parisian on B Street in San Rafael. In 1928
Frank moved his bakery to 1553 Fourth
Street, close to where it resides at 1512
Fourth Street. During the Depression, Frank
decided that he would shift his focus from
baking cakes and pastries to specializing in
baking quality bread products. His bread
was so delicious that it soon became his
main product. He used his artistic ability as a
pastry chef and began to create a very large
variety of different kinds of breads. This
wide selection of bread can still be found at
Bordenave's today.

Coming from fi ve generations of California
vintners, it's no surprise that Joel became a
wine and food entrepreneur. Born in Napa
Valley and raised in the Sierra Foothills where
his parents started Montevina Winery, Joel
later moved to Carmel and upon graduat-
ing high school went to work for Kenwood
Winery in Sonoma Country. Since our start
in 1996, we have selected the best fruit from
growing regions in California and Oregon
to create wines that make for more bal-
anced, clean, complex, elegant wines. We are
geared towards continuing to give our cus-
tomers incredible wines at great prices that
are expressive and food-friendly. We hope
you enjoy our wines and will let us know
