Brianna Tackmier A-&-E Editor Savannah Sutliff Topics Editor 'The Truman Show' Facebook's Messenger brings up issues with privacy Grande's sophomore album infused with raw talent Savannah Sutliff Topics Editor Today, August 22, Ariana Grande's particularly anticipated album 'My Everything' will finally be available for the whole world to hear. For many listeners, this is a fantastic thing, but will this album exceed her last or will it morph her into another certifiable Pop Clone? She has already released 'Problem', 'Bang Bang' as well as 'Break Free', three separate collaborations, each with large artists. Other songs have been leaked either as a full song or as a snippet. However, when listening to them, it is undeniable that Grande's voice has been altered by some sort of computer, whether it just be a filter or basic auto tune. This may be no big deal, in today's day and age, everybody's voice is altered-aside from the ever-glorious Foo Fighters, and a small handful of others. However, in speaking of Top 20 Artists, they all tweak their voice to some extent via today's technology. In my mind the worst part of computer altering voices is the fact that they sound unrecognizably worse live. However, Ariana Grande's case is the exact opposite. She is a gorgeous singer, in terms of our Top 20 youth, she is possibly the best. She began on Broadway and has a vocal f lare that is simply stellar compared to some of her competitors. However, Ariana Grande set herself up for failure by being just to noticeably talented. If she were any other Joe Shmuck, the songs she has released wouldn't just be good, they would be career making. However, Ariana Grande sounds so phenomenal live that hearing her voice in any way altered is gut wrenching. The songs may not be auto tuned/filtered enough for it to be blatantly obnoxious, but it is enough to make a listener long for her raw voice. It will still be a chart topping Ariana Grande posing on a bench for her sophomore album known as 'My Everything'. (1998) A funny movie that relates to real life! Definitely worth giving it a try when you've got some real down time! Source:thegrapejuice.net Definitely worth listening to! "...this summer definitely had a more broad selection of free movies than most others." Every summer our local movie theater here in town always has a bunch of free movies for people to watch two days a week: Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Most years there aren't really many movies for all of us at Red Bluff High; as you may already know, most of those movies are for little kids, not teenagers getting ready to be young adults. This year, however, was an exception. There was a bit more of a mix between the little kid and older kid movies, and that made going to those free movies more interesting and, most importantly, more entertaining. While I won't be able to comment on every movie, there are a few picks that deserve a shout-out. Prime Cinemas was very clever in their choices this year because most of the movies they picked were relatively new, but they had already gone out of the theater's auditoriums for good. All of them had also come out within the last year, such as "The Croods," "Mr. Peabody and Sherman," and "The Lego Movie". Most of them were animated, but they did a great job in keeping them to a point where people of all ages would be interested in seeing them. While most of them may seem uninteresting and boring to some, there were some that were more for the watching pleasures of the older kids. The one that really stands out in this category would have to be "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of M o n s t e r s , " because there is a little bit of gore and blood in the middle parts of the movie, but it still managed to interest the younger kids in town because it's a movie with a bunch of heroes on this big and awesome misadeventure that has a pretty good cliff hanger ending. Overall, this summer definitely had a more broad selection of free movies than most others. They were all heart-warming, entertaining, witty, and very great picks to show for free this year. with free summer flicks The Truman Show is a comedy-drama film that premiered in 1998, directed by Peter Weir and written by Andrew Niccol. This film follows the life of Truman Burbank (Jim Carry) and has an ensemble cast of Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich, Ed Harris and Natascha McElhone. The plot is about a man named Truman Burbank who lives in a construed reality TV show and has lived most of his life completely unaware, until he notices some strange things about his day to day and tries to find out the truth about his reality. The conf lict is the creators of this show don't want the truth to come out to Truman or their multimillion dollar show is done so they take all the necessary percussions to keep Truman for finding the truth of leaving the set. This films originality and complexity sets it apart from other comedy's while still maintaining the usual hilarity that Jim Carry bring to all of his movies. Jim carry's acting and the intensively dramatic situations his character is pushed into make for extremely entertaining scenes that will keep you glued to the screen. This film will also keep you thinking because off its compelling and realistic plot that begs the question of whether or not something similar to this could really happen in our society and what would be done about it if it did. This cult classic is a great conversation starter and will make you think about the way you view your own life and if everything you know is really the way it seems. So next time you are looking for something to watch give Truman show a try it might change your perspective. "We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented" this is a great quote because it perfectly explains why Truman was so unaware that his entire world was fabricated The Truman Show is a great movie pick if you are looking for something fun and different that will make you think and start a conversation. Facebook's new messenger app was released to app stores August 9, 2011, but not until recently did the updated version get released and did Facebook try to make it mandatory to have the messenger for all cellular accounts. The new messenger is supposed to make it easier to message friends and even be able to message them through face book when you are not logged in, and it does this and does it well. The thing that you may not know about this convent new app is that although it is helpful it may be invading your privacy. It has recently been discovered and wide spread over the media that in the fine print by downloading this app facebook now has the right to the majority of the information on your cell phone. According to Snopes .com and several other sites all which claim to have word for word copied what was said in the app information that Facebook as soon as you download their app can call numbers in your contacts without your permission, record audio with your microphone, take pictures and video with your camera, and read your call log. And that's not the end there is a whole laundry list of other invasive conditions in the fine print that shouldn't be necessary to a messenger app. This app is convenient for Facebook messaging and does its purpose well but the invasive conditions make it overall an app that might not be worth downloading if you are the type of person that cares deeply about privacy. Now more recently sites are claiming that these conditions have been over exaggerated by the media but personally if there is a risk of my privacy being infringed on this is not the app for me, especially when it is something that is supposed to be a simple as a messenger. So, before downloading Just too many issues with privacy. However, great for sending messages. Prime Cinemas dazzles Facebook's Messenger app could invade everyone's privacy. Photo by Rebecca Blanchard album that will appeal to all audiences, young and old. Despite the filtered tinge that occurs multiple times on the album at least, her R&B mixed with broadway voacals still make the album a standout among the rest, she will just always sound better live than on an album. We as listeners can only hope that she releases a live album one day. Until then however, we will still have her sophomore album, 'My Everything' which will no doubt be a great album to listen to, it has all the makings of a great album, it will just-based off of her three singles as well as leaked snippets of the other songs-not have the f lare of her raw and utterly unique voice. This should not prevent anybody from listening to the album however, because at its core it will still be an album unlike the other pop clones. this app actually read the terms and conditions and decide for yourself if they are acceptable to you and allow your privacy. Let's Be Cops- Jake Johnson, Daymon Wayans Jr. If I Stay- Chloe Grace Moretz, Mireille Enos, Jamie Blackley When the Game Stands Tall- Chris Ryan, Bob Ladouceur Sin City: A Dame to Kill for- Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson Guardians of the Galaxy- Chris Pratt, Zoe Sandalana, Dave Bautista
