SHOP CHICAGO esigning oman INTERIORS EXPERT AND WOMAN-ABOUT-TOWN SASHA ADLER SHARES HER GO-TO PLACES FOR GETTING GALA GLAM THIS WINTER. BY LAUREN FINNEY A design director at West Town–based Nate Berkus Associates, Lincoln Park native Sasha Adler has been shopping Chicago all her life. As an integral part of the Children's Research Fund's Children's Ball on December 14, the fashionable Adler knows she needs to look the part. Though she gravitates toward "classic, timeless pieces that are well tailored, especially for everyday," Adler admits she "sometimes falls head over heels with something a little outrageous and totally impractical." This spunk and high energy brings personality to her philanthropic endeavors. "It's a phenomenal board," she says of the fund, which supports the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Research Center, where her daughter stayed for a minor issue in her infancy. Look for Adler to be browsing at these favorite Chicago spots in preparation for the 2013 winter ball season and beyond. Anthony Cristiano Cartier "The salon is gorgeous, and Anthony is a phenomenal talent. It's my one stop before an event for hair, makeup, and the most perfect manicure." 401 N. Wabash Ave., 312-268-2440; anthonycristiano.com "My husband has bought me a few pieces from Cartier—we know Jim, a sales associate there, and he's wonderful." 630 N. Michigan Ave., 312-266-7440; cartier.com "I remember Barneys first coming to Chicago, and visiting the store on my 16th birthday for a pick-me-up after a failed driving test. I feel like I've grown up at Barneys. I love the shoe department. I wear a lot of Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik shoes. Barneys is also very supportive of the Children's Research Fund with in-store events." 15 E. Oak St., 312-587-1700; barneys.com Blake "Rachel at Blake is so amazing—she's memorized my entire closet. I've been shopping there since I was young. She has an insane memory and is always thinking of me." 212 W. Chicago Ave., 312-202-0047 FROM TOP: When Sasha Adler is shopping for gala wear, Cartier and Barneys New York are among her top choices. 98 "This gallery is a great source for unique vintage pieces." 730 N. Wells St., 312-337-6556; douglasrosin.com Geneva Seal Fine Jewelry & Timepieces "When I was interning at a bank during college, I used my entire paycheck to buy a Cartier watch. My parents were furious, but I felt like I earned it all summer. I used to go and 'visit' the watch at Geneva Seal [before I bought it]. I still have it!" 112 E. Oak St., 312-944-3100; genevaseal.com The Publican "I love to have my friends over for a pre-event cocktail party. I often have The Publican set up a gorgeous charcuterie and cheese board. It's the perfect way to set the tone for a fun night." 837 W.
