Tips - Con't from page 19 of families, presents, food, and events that probably look be er online than they are in real life. For as much as social media might connect you the rest of the year, it can be isola ng if you're not going to "all the events" and doing "all the things." Make some- thing else your go-to this me of year, like an audio- book, or a podcast. 8. Schedule a Therapy By "a therapy" I mean anything from an official ther- apy appointment, to a telehealth appointment with a counselor, or even a dedicated LGBTQIA+ or other support group. Ideally, this is a safe place you can talk openly about your feelings, thoughts, concerns, or anything you want. If you've never been to therapy, I highly recommend it. If you've been through trauma, I highly recommend it. If you've been alive on this planet for the last few years, I highly recommend it. Think of it like a tune-up for a car, or a necessary sup- port system. Everyone needs a li le help some mes. If you're going through a lot of trauma or drama, you especially need help and that's ok. There's no shame in it. Ge ng into the habit of semi-regular month- ly or weekly sessions can be really helpful when it comes to naviga ng life while Queer. Your insurance might even cover it. Looking for a good therapist? Psychology Today has a great "sor ng tool" to find one that can meet your needs. There are also virtual op ons like Be er Help. Your local area might have an IRL LGBTQ+ support group as well. For members of the trans community, Trans Lifeline is a literary lifesaving network for fan- tas c supporters available to help you. 9. Priori ze Yourself One of the biggest things I've learned over the years is that good things and good feelings don't always "just happen." Some mes you have to put in a li le effort, or do a li le planning. Some mes you have to go out of your way to find and connect with good people. Some mes you have to set boundaries to protect yourself. Learning to show up for yourself and care for yourself takes me and prac ce. Re- member; you are worthy of good things. You are worthy of love and equality and acceptance. Show up for yourself and those who love you. You deserve joy and a full life. Diversity Rules Magazine|Nov 2021 | 21 Advertise Today!
