Jim Koury is a seeker of personal truth, and desires to empower others to find their own personal truth, whatever it may be. He is also an ac vist who is not afraid to speak his mind, and ruffle some feathers, if necessary. His main objec ve is to get people to think and think for themselves. He espouses Aristo- tle's mantra, "It is the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accep ng it." Jim does not force his views on others but just puts them out there for folks to think about and discard if they wish. Jim has self-published his first literary work en tled, "Unredacted," and can be purchased on Amazon, Barnres and Noble, and Ebay. Welcome to the June issue of Diversity Rules Maga- zine. It is amazing that we are in the middle of the year already. Time is surely passing by quickly. This year has not been the year that many of us had been expec ng when it began what seems like an eternity ago, given our current situa on dealing with Covid-19. This horrible virus has upended all of our plans, and has changed the way we interact with each other, albeit temporarily, un l we can get beyond it all with a vaccine and/or effec ve treat- ment. We have been forced to adapt in ways that were unimaginable just a few short months ago. It surely brings home the fact that we are not in control of anything really, especially when it comes to virus- es that lurk "out there" just wai ng for unsuspec ng hosts to latch on to. The devasta on of this virus is far-reaching, with mil- lions infected worldwide, and deaths con nuing to mount throughout most countries, with the United States reaching a morbid 100,000 deaths or more in May. All we can do is forge ahead, and try to comply as best we can with the parameters given to us by our government and health officials, many of whom are working relessly on our behalf to quell the spread of the virus. Unfortunately, along with the many large events that have been cancelled, our beloved pride celebra ons that we all look forward to in June, have succumbed to the virus and have been cancelled. Many organiz- ers have planned virtual prides, but alas, these can- not replace the physical pride celebra ons and the immense energy that goes along with them, seeing millions of others of our queer brothers and sisters joining together along with our allies, to celebrate diversity and fellowship with others who share our desire for a be er world, a be er humanity. Unfortunately, we have a President who is hell bent on ignoring the advice and counsel of our health ex- perts and scien sts, as well as others who believe as he does, that it is nothing to concern ourselves with, and that it will all just go away miraculously. Well, surprise... it's not going away any me soon. Com- bine Covid-19, with the racial tensions engulfing the na on due to the murder of George Floyd by Minne- apolis police officers, and we have quite a tumultu- ous year on our hands so far. It will get be er! With all that said, I am thrilled to welcome David P. Wichman as the June feature. David is the author of a remarkable book en tled, "Every Grain of Sand." I have to say that a er reading his words, it certainly changed my perspec ve on my own life, and how I func on within the larger picture of humanity. Ev- eryone should read his book. it is a powerful memor of his life, his ba le with addic on, along with his overcoming the demons that plagued him for most of his life. He is also a speaker, sexual healer, and entrepreneur who is respected and well-known all over the world to those of us who seek to live free of s gma, shame, and fear around sex, love and in- macy. I hope you like the interview, and get much from it, and please purchase David's book. you will not regret doing so. See you in July. Keep the faith and keep smiling!
