STEVE WYNN Wynn & Company Watches debuted its shop-in-shop concept of luxe watch brands in September. Steve Wynn platinum with a 43mm bezel and a dial in shimmering pale blue. "I love this watch, love everything about it, especially the weight of it," he says, taking it off and passing it across the table. The gleaming timepiece is quite balanced in the hand, even as you appreciate its heft. "It feels substantial," Wynn notes, "and it just sits so well on my wrist." Even if his personal collection isn't teeming with timepieces chockfull of the latest bells and whistles—he also mentions owning a Patek Philippe Calatrava, explaining that his own taste tends toward "classic watches with supremely clean, simple faces"—Wynn nonetheless refers to himself as "a watch nut," and he's happy to indulge that passion for fellow aficionados. Over the past year, the retail makeup at Wynn and Encore has evolved into a highly curated collection of status-timepiece brands. In September 2012, the resort debuted Wynn & Company Watches, a shop-in-shop concept in which Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe share custom-designed spaces alongside Breguet, Blancpain, and Officine Panerai (the center section of the boutique also offers carefully considered models by high-wattage brands such as Harry Winston and Christophe Claret). In late October, Chopard opened its doors in Wynn's Retail Esplanade, while November saw the debut of three side-by-side boutiques in Encore's Esplanade: the Richemont-owned IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Piaget. 20 Fold in the luxury labels already established throughout Wynn and Encore—Cartier, Chanel, Graff, Dior, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton, among them—and the result is arguably the world's most discerning selection of high-end watch brands available under one roof.
