MARCH 2013 Page 2A Freeman Brookfield & Elm Grove Brides say EYE DO to professionally applied eyelash extensions The FREEMAN Established in 1859 By Sara Rae Lancaster How to reach us Special to The Freeman BROOKFIELD Theres a new wedding trend that brides have their eyes on literally. Professionally applied eyelash extensions are causing brides to swap their waterproof mascara and eyelash curlers for a trip to these specialty salons, such as Lash Boutique in Brookfield. Nova Beschta, owner and Charles Auer/Freeman Staff inventor of Lash Boutiques A before picture of Sara Lancasters LiquiFan lash extension system, eyelashes. explained that LiquiFan extensions are ideal for brides because they provide a glamorous look that wont smear or smudge like mascara. LiquiFan, which touts itself as the fastest application and only instantly cured eyelash extension available in the market, also provides a more natural appearance because theyre blended into the persons existing lashes. 801 N. Clients are lead to a spa-like room with a table that resembles a massage table. As they lie on their backs with their eyes closed, a LiquiFan educator places collagen pads below their eyes and tapes down the lower lashes. Over the next 90 minutes, the LiquiFan educator carefully dabs each extension lash into the adhesive, then carefully bonds it to one of the clients existing lashes. In the end, the lashes are noticeably thicker and darker, but sans the appearance of a scifi movie extra. Timesaver Yes, there is an initial time investment to have the lashes applied. But after that, the extensions shave time from a brides regular makeup routine. Women who usually wear eyeliner and mascara can easily go without either with the extensions. Anyone who has planned a wedding knows that every second counts when calling vendors, finalizing details and tending to inevitable wedding planning emergencies. Customizable Just like every other detail, these lashes can be customized Subscription Rates By in-county mail 13 weeks........$33.80 26 weeks........$64.22 52 weeks......$121.68 52 weeks..........$175 Out-of-county mail 13 weeks.............$45 26 weeks............$90 Charles Auer/Freeman Staff Electronic edition ......$6.95 a month with credit card Easy buy .....$8.95 a month with credit card Circulation Dept. Casual backyard wedding brides can go with a natural, doe-eyed appearance. Bling-y brides can choose a more dramatic effect. Just keep in mind that more dramatic styles may mean additional fill-in applications, increasing overall time and cost. retouching needed! Keep the look With proper care and routine touchup appointments, the extensions can stay on as long after the wedding as the bride wants. Otherwise, expect them to last four to eight weeks. Photo-ready, all day Things to consider In addition to creating a wideeyed appearance, LiquiFan extensions keep brides photoready all day. No eye makeup For all the perks these extensions boast, budget-conscious brides may find them outside their spending comfort zones. Here is Sara Lancaster after the application of eyelash extensions. Expect to pay $250 for the initial full set, $125 for a partial set and $40 to $75 for a fill. Some may consider the maintenance a bit high, as well. People who tend to rub their eyes, pick at their eyelashes or vigorously scrub their faces will want to be extra careful. Also, use only oilfree makeup and cleansing products, otherwise the bond will deteriorate. However, for some bridal pampering or a unique shower gift consider saying eye do to LiquiFan eyelash extensions.
