By Dan Muckelbauer Post Editor WAUWATOSA — A Milwaukee man has been charged with the first-degree homicide of a Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin employee. Kenneth B. Freeman, 27, who was fired in October as a valet at Froedtert, said in a criminal complaint he "deliberately and purely murdered Ms. Willa." The victim was identified as Carlie Beaudin, a nurse prac- titioner at the hospital. The woman's body was found under a vehicle by a skid-loader operator remov- ing snow at about 3 a.m. Jan. 25 on the top level of the parking structure at 8900 W. Doyne Ave., according to the complaint. The witness said that the vehicle was parked "in a weird manner" with its front end against a concrete wall. A security video showed the defendant approaching the victim on the second floor of the parking structure and briefly speaking with her. She continued to her vehi- cle, and he followed her, first walking, then running after her, the complaint said. He knocked her to the ground and kicked and stomped on her head and neck almost 40 times, the complaint said. A Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office report said the cause of death was blunt-force trauma to the head and neck with indications of strangulation. The video showed Free- man, who was wearing a black and white jacket with the number 88, dragging the woman to the vehicle, then driving it to the top floor of the parking structure. When Freeman was found, he was wearing a jack- et matching the one in the video, and had the victim's purse, the complaint said. A hospital statement reas- sured the public that employ- ee and visitor safety is "our top priority." "Froedtert policies re- quire that contracted em- ployees from third-party ven- dors follow the same back- ground checks required for direct employees. The park- ing service provider has con- firmed that the suspect cleared the background check and that he was termi- nated for a non-violent infraction," the statement said.
