would like. There is no admis- sion fee to get in if people are just playing arcade games, such as Skee-Ball. These games do have fees—visitors buy game tickets at a ticket ma- chine. People get tickets after playing games, depending how well they play, and can redeem tickets for prizes. Even babies can participate at the original location, which features an area restricted to those two and under. Prices for the smaller location are slightly lower. People often comment, Su says, on the facilities being affordable for what customers receive. As local residents— they live in downtown Santa Cruz—this is important to the Clarks, to be able to provide this for their community. Kelly is a Santa Cruz native, and Su has lived here most of her adult life after marrying Kelly while he was stationed in South Korea. The couple works to constantly update the facilities and keep things fresh by adding new games and play structures. Their long-term goal is to keep working with the Capitola Mall to make the facility a "top tier Monterey Bay destination for families to enjoy playing together, and to offer a fun, family party space," says Su. "Where else in our area can you find a facility with inflata- bles and an arcade including a party space?" More about Rainbowzend Rainbowzend has been open at the Capitola Mall since May; before that, it was located on Cathcart and Pacific in down- town Santa Cruz for four years. Previously, owner Arden Russo operated the shop Jabberwock in Ithaca, New York, for 18 years. Rainbowzend stocks gifts, clothing, jewelry and more. Shop specialties include gems, minerals and beads. "People are always amazed by the large amethyst cathedral in the front window, and how colorful the store is," says Russo. Another specialty is bismuth art. Bis- muth is a crystalline metal that often has rainbow hues. There are many women's cloth- ing items, and some men's and kids' selections. Increased tod- dler clothes and tie-dye baby items are coming in the near future. "We plan to add new things every week, to keep it fun and fresh," says Russo. They have backpacks, fanny packs, tapestries, bandanas, tablecloths, hats, and incense. New additions include toddler backpacks and lunch bags. Other items for kids include small Djembe drums, as well as medium and large drums for teenagers and adults. Russo loves it when kids come into the store. She herself has three older kids, ages 16, 18 and 21. There are lots of ready-to-wear jewelry pieces. "Also, we can custom-make earrings, brace- lets and necklaces, and can wire wrap on the spot," says Russo. She also carries hand blown glass items, and does custom glass orders. Rainbowzend sells local art and items from around the world, and stocks "Vape" (vaporizer) supplies and smok- ing accessories. Russo is enjoying her new Capitola Mall location and looks forward to meeting new customers. She is a local, hav- ing lived in the Watsonville/Ap- tos Hills area for eight years.
