Mr. Judd has been out of the limelight by choice but has decided to embrace the public again with his comedic talent. Fans may remember his video "I Love NASCAR" with Toby Keith. During this year's festival, the North Carolina State Museum of History is set to loan six Bechtler Coins to be displayed at the Mountain Gateway Museum in Old Fort. Mountain Gateway Museum and Heritage Center is the venue for this year's event, located at 24 Water Street in downtown Old Fort, NC. The Bechtler House Museum and Heritage Center in Rutherfordton is home to the North Carolina Gold Trail Headquarters. The North Carolina Gold Trail is a heritage destination trail that spans across the state whose purpose is to educate visitors about the NC Gold Rush and the signifi cance it played in the history of the U.S. This trail is currently under development and counties will continue to be added. "This will be an incredible event with the participation of Gold Trail members celebrating North Carolina Gold History at the Offi cial location for this annual event." The festival will kick-off at 9:00 am Saturday, June 2nd with the running of The Rugged Nugget 5K, the fi rst 50 to enter receive a free t-shirt and entry fees are only $15.00. Money raised benefi ts Friends of the Mountain Gateway Museum. Students attending Old Fort Elementary School are partnering with organizations and plan to share a special project. Their displays will be exhibited in the Morgan Cabin. Take this opportunity to visit with representatives from the Reed Gold Mine, Historic Gold Hill, the Bechtler Museum, and Historic Carson House Museum.
