MILWAUKEE — You might want to wear your loose-fitting clothes when you go to Summerfest 2018, which will have many new food items for purchase and vendors. The music festival is scheduled to run June 27 to July 1 and July 3 to July 8 this year. New this year, BelAir Cantina will have a booth near the Northwestern Mutual Children's Area and will sell tacos, chips and salsas. There will also be two Red Bull Stations selling Red Bull Energy Drink and Red Bull Sugarfree. A second Summerfest Corkscrew location will be added near the U.S. Cellular Connection Stage that will fea- ture fine wines and beers, as well as cheeses. The new foods to fill your stomach include the "Beyond Burger Combo" from AJ Bombers, which is described as "a revo- lutionary plant-based burger that looks, cooks, and satisfies like beef. It's soyfree, gluten free non-GMO and has 20 grams of protein. Served with lettuce and tomato and a side of tots." Louise's Trattoria at Water Street Brewery location will offer gnocchi with truffle cream sauce. Solo will have a differ- ent take on an Italian classic with the bacon cannoli, made of beer candied bacon "can- noli" shells filled with beer candied bacon cheesecake, garnished with beer candied bacon bits. Vagabond will sell loaded French fries with nacho cheese, spicy pork verde, pico de gallo, guacamole and cilantro crema. If that's not enough, Ward's House of Prime will offer the Impossible Burger comprised of an "Impossible Patty," American cheese and truffle mayo on a bun. MILWAUKEE — The City of Milwaukee Youth Council is making a recommenda- tion to allocate $35,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding toward youth homelessness. The funds will be used for shelter services and outreach for com- munity members ages 14 to 18. Selected applicants will be interviewed by the Youth Council next month. The council's recommendations will be final- ized by the full Common Council later this summer.
