But to stay there, they're going to need their young talented shortstop, Francisco Lindor, to get his bat going. Many think it will only be a matter of time, and that Lindor could be in full stride when the Indians wrap up a weekend series against the reigning World Series Champion Houston Astros, Sunday, May 20 on ESPN. Lindor, who hit 33 home runs in 2017, which was more than double his 2016 total, only had four homers through his first 26 games this season. But one of those, he considers the most special of his career. In April, Major League Baseball scheduled a two-game series between the Indians and Minnesota Twins in San Juan, Puerto Rico to help aid in the country's recovery after the devastation suffered during last year's hurricane season. Lindor, who spent time visiting his old school and giving baseball clinics, stepped to the plate and belted a two-run homer. His hometown crowd was ecstatic and chanted his name until he stepped out of the dugout for a curtain call, and it became clear why he's earned the nickname "Mr. Smile." Lindor, who moved to Florida when he was 12, was drafted out of prep school by the Indians and worked his way through the minors until he was called up in 2015, and nearly won the Rookie of the Year Award.
