Multimedia artist, musician and writer Jill Carey Michaels knew from an early age that she was an artist; her
free time was spent painting, drawing and writing in sketchbooks. Eventually, she earned a BFA in illustration
from the Philadelphia College of Art, and it was no surprise to anyone when she launched her own illustration
company, Two Hearts Gifts, inspired by her passion for pen, ink and watercolor. The artist printed and handpainted her designs into glass plates, greeting cards, tea towels and jewelry, selling them to such clients as The
Museum of Modern Folk Art in Lincoln Center and Nordstrom department stores in California. With the focus
leaning more towards technology, Carey Michaels made a shift and immersed herself in the world of computers, receiving an MFA in computer art from The School of Visual Arts in NYC. She wound up working in the
computer graphics department for NBC, Court TV and various Internet companies. She now lives in Oneonta
with her husband, musician Ed Michaels, and teaches digital storytelling, Flash animation, website design, art
appreciation, graphic art, color theory and drawing for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online, SUNY Empire
Online and SUNY Delhi. View her creative work online at www.jillcareymichaels.com.
