Few re- cent dramas have captured the attention of TV fans like NBC's latest hit franchise, the Chicago series of shows from legendary executive producer Dick Wolf ("Law & Order"). The crew of Firehouse 51 pre- pares to bid adieu to fans once again in a special two-hour sea- son finale of "Chicago Fire," air- ing Thursday, May 10, on NBC. The show follows a group of fire- fighters, rescue squad members and paramedics who are more family than co-workers. They of- ten clash over personal and pro- fessional conflicts, but when the chips are down, the heroes are there for one other. Filmed, of course, in Chicago, the action drama was co-created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the duo behind such big- screen blockbusters as the 2007 remake of "3:10 to Yuma" and 2003's "2 Fast 2 Furious." Not to be confused with the Windy City's professional soccer team of the same name, "Chicago Fire" cen- ters around the stories of Capt. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer, "House"), Lt. Kelly Severide (Tay- lor Kinney, "The Vampire Dia- ries"), paramedic Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund, "Lie to Me") and battalion Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker, "Oz"). This season's other key characters include firefighters Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg, "Sex and the City"), Otis Zvonecek (Yuri Sardarov, "Apex"), Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso, "Prison Break"), Randy "Mouch" McHolland (Christian Stolte, "Prison Break") and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo, "Blood & Oil"), along with paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer, "If I Can Dream"). It's been an emotional year for the "Chicago Fire" team, as it lost a beloved cast member. DuShon Monique Brown ("Prison Break"), who played Boden's as- sistant, Connie, in the show, died on March 23, 2018. As of press time, the cause of death had not been disclosed, but her passing was unexpected and shook the cast and crew of the show. For those wondering if "Chicago Fire" will address the death of the 49-year-old actress in the season finale, co-creator and showrun- ner Haas took to Twitter in early April to announce that they've decided to honor her memory next season.
