The corporation will have the second "town hall" meeting on Tuesday, December 18th, 2 p.m., at the Hicks Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Hicks Grove Baptist Church located at 508 Hicks Grove Road, Mooresboro, NC 28114 is adjacent to the new zinc plant. All citizens and residents of the Hicks Grove community are invited. The informal get-together will feature light refreshments and have a questions and answer session with Horsehead team members and neighbors. In addition a bus tour of the construction site will also be available. Horsehead continues to be very open with information of this major impact on Rutherford County's economy. Their "Waelz kiln technology" has been designated by the U. S. EPA as the "Best Demonstrated Available Technology" for processing EAF dust. The electric arc furnace dust is generated by the steel industry. It is listed as hazardous waste and contains approximately 20% zinc. Horsehead reclaims this zinc.
