December 2012 My Two Cents by Jim Koury, Editor Welcome to the December issue of Diversity Rules Magazine. It is hard to believe the year is almost gone! It has been a gratifying year; a year of growth and evolution, not only for Diversity Rules, but for me personally as well. I look forward to the new year with anticipation and expectations of great things, and advancement forward to full equality for the queer community throughout this great nation. The election is OVER! President Obama won the election, in case you didnt hear that! What a wonderful night it was to see the President win the election. Not only did Obama win, but liberalism won BIG as well. America embraced the liberal vision for where it wanted this country to move forward to. Equal opportunity for all and a focus on people won on election night. America rejected the reactionary vsion of the GOP being promulgated by Mitt Romney. With numerous queer rights cases advancing to the Supreme Court, I am comforted in the knowledge that the courts apolitical reputation shall remain intact with future appointments made by President Obama. The Supreme Court is safe due to the President winning reelection. Heartfelt congratulations to you Mr. President and I wish you well in your second term. the works for a comeback of a print version on a subscription only basis. The website will be revamped and there will be a lot more public events sponsored by Diversity Rules as well. I look forward to partnering with the many queer advocacy agencies and groups to work for full equality for all queer Americans. More details will be announced as changes are made. The target date for these changes to occur is the 1st quarter of 2013. Stay tuned...... I want to welcome Lamar Van Dyke, our feature cover interviewee for December. Lamar has an amazing story. It was an honor to be able to work with Lamar. She was part of a group of radical lesbians called The Van Dykes. This group of womyn traveled the country in vans, and well, you can read all about it on pages 4 and 5! I know you will enjoy reading it as much as I did! Diversity Rules Magazine strives to represent the queer community from a more militant and on the edge position. It also has always had the objective of featuring unique and interesting stories and highlighting up and coming creative queers searching for a venue to promote their creations. Due to the lack of publicity and attention not being given by the mainline publications, I have always believed it important to provide an outlet for creative expressive queers before they become someone. If you wish to be featured in Diversity Rules, contact me at the e-mail and telephone number below. I am always looking for new and exciting and on the edge features. The coming year shall prove to be a productive one for Diversity Rules Magazine. Plans are in Have a happy and safe holiday season and live your lives to the fullest as YOU! Diversity Rules Magazine Featured in this issue: PO Box 72 Oneonta, NY 13820 James R.
