Phuong Gallagher had it all—new husband, a sweet little stepdaughter, a great job, and
a fulfilling hobby playing the violin. But her life took an unexpected turn when she was
diagnosed with Stage III rectal cancer, at just 29. For the past decade, Phuong has trusted
her life to an extraordinary team of Marin General Hospital cancer specialists. They have
seen her through five recurrences, with metastases in her liver and lungs. She's had open
surgery, radiosurgery, chemo, and radiation and has always felt lik
e a full-fledged partner
in her care. To help others like herself, Phuong volunteers with several colon cancer
advocacy groups. And although Phuong and her husband recently moved to Los Angeles,
she plans on sticking with her Marin General Hospital care team. As Phuong puts it,"I got
lucky with who I was referred to. And once I met them, there was no going back."
I'm Phuong, and this is my healing place.
