Please have your funeral home send us your loved ones' obituaries to events@rutherfordweekly.com ©Community First Media Community First Media As we travel down the path of life, we must admit our life is an amazing trek of time. Each life is not a short story, but a novel with its own unique plot and characters. There are some things about this journey which are beyond our choosing, such as parents, siblings, the place of our upbringing, our physical char- acteristics and certain gifted abilities. What we do with the "uncontrollables" will largely infl uence the depth of our preparedness for the journey. Those who succeed will do the best they can with the hand that is dealt to them and refuse to accept a spirit of victim- hood and envy. During the journey of life, there will be valleys and mountaintops, but mostly our days will be spent making most of the or- dinary. At the end of this adventure there will be a deep appreciation for the routine of life and the people who were a constant source of stability and predictability. We will realize that most of life's great lessons were taught by those who quietly and faith- fully served others. They were the guide- posts along the way. There is no exemption when it comes to the trials of life, it happens to all of the liv- ing. Someone has said, "Adversity is not a detour. It is part of the path." Our reaction to life's challenges, sorrow, grief, pain and heartache will largely determine the val- ue of this journey. We will learn that faith, hope and love are the fruit of our perse- verance. This inseparable trinity of virtues will bring worth to our life experiences and relationships. One day our passage will be complete and we would have fi nished the course which was set before us, but until then, let us all enjoy the journey of life.
