What does that mean compared to the old year? For some, it means change. For others it is a new beginning. Time to realize we cannot get back the old year but we can move forward in the NEW YEAR. Recognizing those goals that have a tendency to fade from view as we become engaged in our everyday life activities. Is it there, constantly in the back of your mind? The idea of owing your own business and supplying a needed product or service to consumers. Maybe this is the year to bring it to the forefront and begin your research. What better way to begin than with the knowledge that the Small Business Center at Isothermal Community College offers free confi dential counseling to existing and potential business owners, along with free seminars, referrals, and support. We are available at both Rutherford and Polk campuses. We are just a phone call away. For your convenience, please look at the upcoming free seminars and let us know how we can help you in this NEW YEAR. Bookkeeping for Small Businesses-Dan Thomas March 6, 2018 6:00-9:00 p.m., Comm. After Tommy died on September 26, 2017, Tommy's sisters donated the angel, which had been on display in Tommy's yard, to Johnny Carson. Johnny is Tommy's longtime friend, helper and employee. Johnny wanted to have a memorial to his friend and decided to place it in the garden behind the Church for the Exceptional in Henrietta. He wanted a marker to explain the signifi cance of the angel, so he ordered the stone marker that includes Tommy's nickname "The Big Man". On February 7, 2018, Johnny Carson, Pat Jobe, and Tim Luckadoo installed the marker in front of the angel. It can be viewed on the church grounds. Pat Jobe is looking for old copies of The Amazin' Shopper for a book he's writing about Tommy. He can be reached at patjobe13@gmail.com. Angel that belonged to Tommy Hicks and the new marker.
