She is the Director of Com- munications at Morreale Com- munications, where she leads the transportation division. She manages major regional and statewide projects for public transit agencies, including the Chicago Transit Authority, Chi- cago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, Illinois Department of Transportation and the Chicago Department of Transportation. She offers her clients outreach services in Spanish, which gives an important voice to the Latino community in the development of public projects — something that has been lacking in the past. She started her career at the Illinois General Assembly as a le- gislative aide for the 2nd Senate District. She also worked at Chi- cago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, where she teamed up with elected officials, business owners, community leaders and the public on important land use and transportation processes. Vallecillos is a proud co- founder of Chicago Prize Hoops, a Pilsen-based nonprofit that provides at-risk Latino youth with free mentoring, academic tutoring and basketball training opportunities. She serves as the communications co-chair for the Latino Giving Circle, a philanthropic and educational vehicle of The Chicago Commu- nity Trust, and is a member of the professional group Women's Transportation Seminar. Vallecillos obtained her master's degree in public policy and administration from Nor- thwestern University and her bachelor's degree in urban and public affairs from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Berenice Vallecillos Bringing an important voice to her community "A lways keep your eye on the finish line, but start by focusing on the first step in front of you." Berenice Vallecillos
