As the first director of Enrich Chi- cago, a nonprofit-led movement dedicated to eliminating struc- tural racism in the arts, Sánchez is responsible for articulating and advancing a powerful vision for the organization. Her professional roots are deeply sown in multicultural leadership and education. Sán- chez has worked extensively with first-generation and un- derrepresented students and their families to increase access and success at all levels, from elementary after-school pro- gramming to college persistence and career readiness. She later moved from direct service into roles designing, implementing and building student support programs for community colle- ge students across the Chicago area. Most recently, she led anti- racism organizing and cultural competence capacity-building at Teach for America - Chicago- Northwest Indiana, where her efforts positioned regional staff to equip 400 teachers with the skills necessary to lead in their classrooms as critically cons- cious educators. Sánchez received her master's degree in Latin Ameri- can and Caribbean Studies from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in anthropolo- gy and international affairs from Colorado College. She is a 2017 Surge Institute Fellow. A proud Pilsen native, Sánchez is deeply involved with several local advo- cacy and social justice-minded organizations, serving on the Board of Directors of the Chica- go Foundation for Women and Latinas on the Plaza. She lives on the Northwest Side with her partner, Michael, and their se- ven-month-old daughter, Vida. Nina D. Sánchez Advancing a powerful vision for equity "T ake inspiration from the arts.
