Sprouting Leaders envisions a community where youth from all backgrounds, re- gardless of socioeconomic status, are offered an equal opportuni- ty to learn, lead and thrive. The organization has invested more than 7,000 hours in the Pilsen and Little Village neighborhoods and directly impacted over 300 middle school students. The organization runs an af- ter-school mentorship program with monthly community servi- ce events and an annual Secret Santa toy drive that provides gifts to hundreds of kids. Through its partnerships and collaborations, Sprouting Leaders has positio- ned itself to be the vehicle by which many young professio- nals can come together and give back to the community while gaining leadership experience. As well as serving as the pre- sident of Sprouting Leaders, Raul Rosas is the vice president of Rulis Trucking, a family- owned-and-operated trucking company, and is the co-founder and CEO of Fluxee, a virtual re- ality technology startup, which was a part of the inaugural 1871 and Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Hispanic Tech Incubator. He recently gradua- ted from the Elmspring Accele- rator program, which focuses on real-estate technologies. Rosas holds a bachelor's degree in accounting — with minors in finance and mana- gement information systems — and a certificate in entrepre- neurial studies from the Univer- sity of Illinois at Chicago. He is a licensed Certified Public Accou- ntant in Illinois. Rosas was born in Los Angeles to Mexican immi- grant parents. Raul Rosas The nonprofit and tech startup founder "T here are no shortcuts or substitutes for hard work, discipline, and the fact that we often learn best through trial, error, and (sometimes epic) failure."
