Bio: Billy Russo has spent his
professional life working as a na-
tional baseball writer, broadcas-
ter and translator/interpreter.
Russo is the Manager of Spanish
Communication for the Chicago
White Sox. In that role, he helps
Latino players adapt to a new
culture, language, city and or-
ganization. He also helps them
interact with the media and en-
gage with the community.
For the past seven years, Rus-
so has contributed to the White
Sox Spanish-language website,
orgullosox.com, and written a
White Sox-focused Spanish blog
called Medias Blancas con Orgu-
llo.
Since 2012, he has been the
Spanish radio analyst for Chica-
go White Sox games.
Russo came to Chicago
for the very first time in 2008
to learn English and to cover
baseball's Major League season,
with special attention paid to La-
tino players, coaches and mana-
gers for El Universal, a national
newspaper in Venezuela. Then
he started doing regular collabo-
rations with and contributing to
the Associated Press and ESPN
Deportes, writing articles and
doing interviews with baseball
players, coaches and managers.
Russo, a native of Caracas,
Venezuela, graduated from Uni-
versidad Santa María in Caracas
with a degree in journalism.
