The District 8 seat Sartori holds on the County Board was one five local races subjected to a primary because of the high number of candidates on the bal- lot. Julietta Henry, director of the Milwaukee County Election Commission, said voter turnout across the 19 cities and villages averaged 15 percent, based on preliminary figures. One statewide race — state Supreme Court justice — was also on the ballot. Locally, county residents favored Rebecca Dallet over Screnock and Tim Burns, although Screnock was the top vote-getter statewide. Sartori's constituents are in Cudahy, St. Francis, South Milwaukee and portions of Oak Creek. Sartori, 75, faced two challengers leading into the pri- mary: James Davies, 33, of South Milwaukee, who was the top vote-getter, and Steven Shea, 58, of Cudahy, who placed second. The vote totals for the race remain unofficial until a board of canvassers reviews ballots. See the results on page 4. As the polls closed, Davies took to social media to share his thoughts on the election results. "I'm looking forward to talk- ing to more voters going into the April election," Davies wrote in a Facebook post on his campaign page. "Talking to the people of the South Shore about their cares and concerns is the best part of running for office."
