fool and incessantly taunted for
being a wide-eyed optimist. In his
past life, he taught underprivileged
children, until he was stabbed by
one of them. In his spare time, he
enjoys crafting beer. According to
him, the hobby defines his identity
and is a source of great mockery
amongst his colleagues.
Jake, the yin to Matt's yang, is,
unsurprisingly, the more pessimis-
tic of the two, going to work in a
car boasting a bumper sticker an-
nouncing, "If you're reading this,
you're going to die someday." He
possesses a cynical outlook, seek-
ing only money and power, with
the attitude "life is meaningless
and nothing we do matters."
Matt and Jake's friendship is
based solely on their proximity at
work. They hate themselves for
working at Hampton DeVille, but
not enough to quit. Working for the
comically imposing and high-
strung Christian DeVille, CEO of
Hampton DeVille, doesn't help
matters. Acting veteran Lance Red-
dick ("The Wire"), best known for
his intense dramatic roles, brings a
sharp edge to the megalomaniac.
Matt and Jake report to John
(Adam Lustick, "Adam Ruins Every-
thing") and Kate (Anne Dudek,
"Mad Men"), who in turn report to
DeVille. The spineless pair both re-
spect, admire and fear their boss,
with John often recounting a
dream in which Christian crushed
his head, proclaiming, "I was terri-
fied but honored to be killed by
someone I respect so much.''
"Talking to him is like talking to a
gun with an Ivy League educa-
tion," is Kate's take on the boss.
The versatile Dudek has made a
successful career by seamlessly
transitioning between lighthearted
comedic roles and more serious
dramatic ones. Her "Corporate"
gig sees her coming off successful
stints in "The Flash" and "You're
the Worst."
Joining John and Kate is fellow
corporate tool Grace (Aparna
Nancherla, "BoJack Horseman"),
the HR administrator and a social
media genius. She's Matt and
Jake's only friend at Hampton DeV-
ille and, while friendly to the duo,
she has no problem exploiting
them for her own amusement or to
do her bidding. She revels in the
fact that she started the Egyptian
revolution of 2011 with a simple
hashtag out of boredom. Baron
Vaughn ("Grace and Frankie")
joins her as the Robin to her Bat-
man as Baron, a fellow social me-
dia guru and partner in crime.
Aparna Nancherla, Adam
Lustick, Anne Dudek, Matt
Ingebretson, Jake Weisman
and Lance Reddick in
"Corporate"
