"It's been a lot of hard work by a group of volunteers to make this happen and to get an 18 game schedule in our first year, as well as getting into a state association, has been challenging, yet rewarding." said Ryan Elkins, volunteer coach, on the inaugural basketball season. "These aren't top notch basketball players or athletes but they are great kids learning to play the game of basketball while also learning life lessons like teamwork, focus, dedication and perseverance. We are planning on having a girl's softball team this year and next year we plan to add girl's volleyball, boy's soccer, cross country and golf. It's an exciting time at TMA!" We are members of the CSAA, (Carolina State Athletic Association) which is made up of Christian and charter schools in NC/ SC and are a registered Maxpreps school for our Varsity program." reported Elkins. This year, seven home- schoolers participated. With a student body of approximately 90 students, TMA has room to grow and wants the community to know there are scholarships available for tuition assistance. They have a Special Needs program and their Dual Enrollment agreement with Isothermal Community College makes it possible for students to graduate with both a high school and 2yr. associate's degree at the same time.
