Donated to the City of Cedarburg by Ozaukee Bank, along with part of its art collection, the building is now a vibrant part of the community's cul- tural life. In addition to its permanent art collection, the museum offers spe- cial exhibitions and events, a gift shop and private party rentals. The Center provides access to visual and performing arts with art exhibits, art classes, special programs, gift shop, and events. The CCC offers live local music through its 'First Fridays' series and features nationally touring per- formers in the popular 'Center Stage' performance series. The CCC is avail- able for private party rentals. CEDAR CREEK SETTLEMENT N70 W6340 Bridge St., Cedarburg (262) 377-4763 www.cedarcreeksettlement.com Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this former woolen mill built in 1864 now houses dozens of specialty shops, galleries, restau- rants and a winery. Located on the bank of Cedar Creek. View his- toric photographs and artifacts and experience history by hearing the sto- ries of Cedarburg's ancestors through interactive technology. Also offered: General Store Museum, a working ice cream parlor, penny candy store, rotating exhibit gallery, and celebrated Harold Dobberpuhl and Edward Rappold photography collections. GREEN BAY ETHNIC TRAIL Ozaukee County (920) 565-2565 The Milwaukee-Green Bay segment of the Wisconsin Ethnic Settlement Trail served as the principal transportation route between the earliest settlements in Eastern Wisconsin. In Ozaukee County, travelers along this historic route are rewarded with views of the past: historic inns, stagecoach stops, bridges, fences, windrows and farm- steads still standing where they were constructed about 150 years ago. HISTORIC HAMILTON Hamilton Road, Cedarburg (262) 377-9620 Located on Hamilton Road along the banks of Cedar Creek, the reconstruct- ed and restored homes and buildings of this 1840s settlement have secured Hamilton's listing on the National Register of Historic Places. INTERURBAN BRIDGE Downtown Cedarburg (262) 377-9620 Constructed in 1907 for the electric interurban train line between Milwaukee and Sheboygan, the bridge spanning Cedar Creek in downtown Cedarburg now carries only pedestri- an and bicycle traffic. JUDGE EGHART VICTORIAN MUSEUM 302 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington (414) 530-9692 Visitors to this restored 1872 home can see a remarkable collection of Victorian furnishings and household items. Guides provide information about the house and its contents, the Eghart Family and life in Port Washington in the late 1800s. Located in downtown Port Washington. KUHEFUSS HOUSE MUSEUM W63 N627 Washington Ave., Cedarburg (262) 375-3676 www.CedarburgCulturalCenter.org The museum is among the oldest and most important residences in Cedarburg. This simple Greek Revival structure has stood sentinel beside Washington Avenue for more than 160 years and serves as an excellent example of early German-American family life. During this period, the house provided a gracious homestead for five generations of one of Cedarburg's oldest families. LIGHTHOUSE MUSEUM 311 Johnson St., Port Washington (262) 284-7240 The 1860 Light Station & Museum atop St. Mary's Hill has been restored and serves as a museum depicting the life of a light keep family in the 19th century. Visitors tour the living quar- ters and the light tower that includes a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. The former generator room has addi- tional museum exhibits that feature historic Port Washington artifacts. LUXEMBOURG AMERICAN CULTURAL SOCIETY & CENTER 100 Peter Thein Ave., Belgium (262) 476-5086 www.lacs.lu The museum tells the story of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, past and present, as well as the impact of Luxembourg immigrants and their descendants on life in the U.S. The Research Center is home to the largest collection of resources pertaining to Luxembourg genealogy, heritage & culture in North America. NATIONAL FLAG DAY FOUNDATION 4200 Valley View Dr., Waubeka (262) 692-9111 The Americanism Center Museum in Waubeka displays artifacts that tell the stories of Robert Cooley, Balthaser Meyer and the Cigrand family and their achievements. On the museum's Avenue of Flags, visitors can walk through history, past each of the nation's flags from the first 13-star banner to the present-day 50-star flag. On County Road I, just north of Waubeka, is Stony Hill School, where in 1885 a 19-year-old teacher, Bernard J. Cigrand, began his 31-year campaign for a national holiday to honor "Old Glory." The school where it began has been restored to serve as a living tribute to the man, his mission and the ensign of the land. OZAUKEE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY N57 W6406 Center St. P.O. (262) 377-4510 OZAUKEE COUNTY PIONEER VILLAGE 4880 County Highway I, Saukville (262) 377-4510 The village is a collection of 20 log, stone and frame buildings that repre- sent construction methods used in the mid- to late-nineteenth century. The buildings are furnished with everyday items typical of the period used by area pioneers. PEBBLE HOUSE 126 E. Grand Ave. Port Washington, WI 53074 (262) 284-0900 Built in 1848, the year Wisconsin was admitted to statehood, this stone house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This histor- ic building also houses the Port Washington Visitors Center. PORT EXPLOREUM 118 N. Franklin St., Port Washington (262) 284-2406 www.portexploreum.com The Port Exploreum is a unique, high- ly interactive, museum that houses a local history, maritime, and family museum all in the same building. Visitors learn about Port Washington's history, as well as how Lake Michigan has influenced the area over time. SAUKVILLE AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY 200 N. Freistadt Road, Mequon (262) 242-2045 Built in 1840s by Pomeranian (German) immigrants in the small community of Freistadt, Trinity Evangelical is the oldest Lutheran church in Wisconsin. WISCONSIN MUSEUM OF QUILTS AND FIBER ARTS N50 W5050 Portland Road, Cedarburg (262) 546-0300 www.wiquiltmuseum.com Located on the Hoffman Boeker Farmstead, the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts is a tribute to the rich history of quilts and fiber arts.
