FOR THE Wedding, Anniversary or Engagement Announcement Donovan alleges mayoral interference By DAN MUCKELBAUER Post Editor MILWAUKEE — The Police Department announced its Internal Affairs investigators are examining officers' conduct — including at the supervi- sory level — in the tasing and arrest of Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown, while an alderman is questioning whether the mayor gave him preferen- tial treatment. Video from the officers' body-worn cameras will be released after the investiga- tion, the P o l i c e D e p a r t - ment told the Post. M e a n - while, the o f f i c e r s , who have not been identified, will re- main on regular duty, said Sgt. Timothy Gauerke, the department's public infor- mation officer. The department said that after an internal review, charges were not sent to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office, although Brown, 22, was in custody at the Milwaukee County Jail for two hours Jan. 29. The incident began at about 2 a.m. Jan. 29 when officers said they noticed a car parked across two dis- ability parking spaces at Walgreens, South 26th Street and West National Avenue, and spoke with Brown while checking the store. During the encounter, the department said "an electronic control device was deployed and the man was arrested." The depart- ment did not say what led to the use of the device other than saying the circum- stances and use of force are being reviewed by the department. A police statement said, "Command level review of relevant reports and body camera footage indicate that Mr. Brown's actions and behavior do not merit a criminal charge. Further- more, the Department is reviewing the police response including supervi- sory oversight."
