Rutherford Weekly Sudoku Answers on page 23 Middle school students will have a chance to sharpen their skills on the basketball court this winter during a Saturday day camp at Isothermal Community College. The 2nd Annual Tom Jaski Memorial Basketball Camp will be held on Saturday, February 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Isothermal Gymnasium in the Student Center. The camp is for middle school students, age 11 to 15, both boys and girls. A t-shirt will be given to each camper and a box lunch will be provided by Arby's. There is no charge to attend the camp but space is limited. To reserve a spot, send the student's name, parent or guardian's name, address and telephone number to Dee Dee Barnard at Isothermal at 828-395-1292 or at ddbarnard@isothermal.edu The camp is made possible by a generous sponsorship from Rutherford Internal Medicine, LLC (RIMA). The late Dr. Tom Jaski was a longtime physician at RIMA. He was a supporter of many community efforts and was an avid basketball fan, particularly of Duke University's team. The camp will be directed by a Duke basketball legend, Steve Vacendak, who was ACC Basketball Player of the Year in 1966 before going on to play and coach at the professional and college levels. Several local high school coaches will teach the various basketball skills. They include Stacy Lail, the Rutherford County Sports Hall of Famer who coached at R-S Central; Ken Hines, also a coach at R-S Central; Sam Metcalf, retired varsity girls at Chase; and Jay Royster who played at Gardner-Webb University.
