Poplar Street, Petersburg NEWS BRIEFS Makayla Travis benefit is Feb. 3 A benefit chili supper and silent auction have been scheduled to ben- efit Makayla Travis and her family. The supper and auction are set for 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 3 at the Win- slow Fire House at 100 Walnut St. The supper is $5 for adults and $ 3 for chil- dren 10 and under. Free will donations will be accepted. Makayla is 13 years old and has a rare ERF Mutation, which causes her to not grow. She al- so has Scoliosis, Bone Dysplasia and oth- er bone issues. She is scheduled for surgery on February 13. The proceeds of the sup- per and auction will go to help her family with the cost of travel, meals and other needs so her parents can stay with her during this process. The pump was paint- ed to resemble Jack Pipes' Ford Cus- tom. Gene Keepes, of Petersburg, (behind Shoultz) was one of the assistants during the event. The proceeds raised from the pump sale will be contributed to the Jack Pipes Memorial Scholarship Fund. Norrington recognized at 100th birthday Edith Norrington of Otwell was rec- ognized for her 100th birthday by U.S. Railroad Re- tirement Board representative Mar- cus Spann on Tues- day, Jan 31. Mrs. Norrington's birth- day was Jan. 30. She received a Cer- tificate of Achieve- ment and a letter from the Board ex- tending their best wishes for attain- ing the milestone birthday.
