TV Media Weekly | January 27 - February 2, 2018 8 | Sunday afternoon The 60th Annual Grammy Awards broadcasts live on CBS Sunday, Jan. 28, from New York City's Madison Square Garden — a huge change of venue for the ceremony that's called Los Angeles' Staples Center its home for more than a decade. The change in cities and in ven- ues hasn't come with a change in host, though. "The Late Late Show" host James Corden re- turns as MC for the second year in a row. This year's nominees really run the gamut, from longtime favou- rites to exciting up-and-comers. Childish Gambino (the "Atlanta" star is known outside of his music by his real name, Donald Glover) has been nominited for two of the most coveted awards, Record of the Year and Album of the Year, a feat matched by Bruno Mars, Ken- drick Lamar and Jay-Z. In the Best New Artist category, R&B singer Khalid, Canadian Ales- sia Cara, pop star Julia Michaels, hip-hop artist Lil Uzi Vert and sing- er-songwriter SZA all compete for a career-changing award that can bring instant recognition for a newer voice in the industry. There are so many more cate- gories and even more nominees waiting for their chance at one of the gilded gramophone trophies, representing one of the highest achievements in the music indus- try. The 60th Annual Grammy Awards airs live from New York City Sunday, Jan. 28, on CBS. Baldwin's back: Alec Bald- win is getting back into sitcoms. The Hollywood movie star struck success with his seven-season run as TV network executive Jack Donaghy in "30 Rock," but since that show wrapped up for good in 2013, his TV work has been largely limited to hosting the game show "Match Game" and frequently guest starring on "Saturday Night Live," where he does an impression of President Trump. The accomplished actor has partnered with "Black-ish" cre- ator Kenya Barris to develop a new, as-yet-unnamed sitcom that was recently ordered straight to series by ABC. It's still too early for any casting announcements, but it potentially could be a new star- ring vehicle for Baldwin, although nothing is written in stone. The series will focus on an ag- ing and opinionated TV star who's forced to move in with his far more liberal daughter, her girl- friend and their child, setting up a generational clash as the founda- tion of its comedy. Baldwin first came to promi- nence in television in the 1980s with his two-season stint in "Knots Landing" before success- fully making the transition to big- ticket movie star, with film credits that include "Beetlejuice" (1988), "The Hunt for Red October" (1990) and "The Cooler" (2003), the latter of which earned him an Oscar nomination. 01/28 1 PM 1:30 2 PM 2:30 3 PM 3:30 4 PM 4:30 5 PM 5:30 6 PM 6:30 S1 S2 WTTV 4 NCAA Basketball Michigan State at Maryland (College Park) (L) PGA Golf Farmers Insurance Open Site: Torrey Pines Golf Course -- San Diego, Calif.
