Coach Crews openly admitted the players that could challenge romo for his spot are not at practice to do it. So heading into the 2017 season Crews will have to go with his 6 feet tall junior slinging the ball when they're not pounding the rock. running baCk anD wiDe reCeiver noah zeboda and Skyler morris will be lining up closest to the sidelines on offense this year as they'll be challenging opposing secondaries. And while Crews has confidence in his senior 6 feet, 3 inches tall wide out in morris, he knows he has some work to do with zeboda who is coming up to the varsity ranks as a sophomore. oFFenSive line Crews has some size on his front line and he intends to use it with a run first approach to his offense. But size does not amount to much if Crews' lineman don't understand technique or concepts, something the new head coach hopes they can manage to understand before the 2017 opening game kickoff begins. But even if they don't Crews hopes to fool the defensive line with more intricate play calls. "We are going to do a little bit of a magic show. y'know, smoke and mirrors." linebaCker the Aztec's new head coach is high on his linebacking corps, but not because of their size or speed, instead it is because they listen. Crews said that they are one of the better developed groups on the team but are not quite ready to lead the defense aside from sophomore mike diaz who has a lot of potential but was hampered with an injury until the second week of August. CornerbaCk anD SaFeTy Alex Coverubias and Skyler morris are no strangers to the secondary as they return to the starting line up at safety or cornerback on the defensive side of the ball. Crews says both players are quick allow- ing the coaches to disguise their defensive scheme. But there are still some kinks to work out before coaches can fill out the rest of the roster for this unit. DeFenSive line Farmersville's defensive line is a work in progress heading into the 2017 season without a player taking the reins and leading the group. And while they may have some size on their side Crews admits that they will get creative depending on the team their playing. "We may have to play some little kids who are quick and hard to block, just whatever we have to do to get the job done."
