At 6 feet and 150 pounds, Magana lead the junior varsity team to a perfect season. "Josh is as or more seasoned than any quarterback that i've had," said head coach kevin scharton. The entire playbook has been opened to this young signal caller despite having no varsity experience. what has his coaches talking is his arm strength and his ability to run and understand what is going on in any formation. running baCk anD wiDe reCeiver senior lucas Tuttle will lead a slew of five Emperor running backs. At 5 feet, 9 inches and 191 pounds, Tuttle will be the Emperors' full back and his ability to power through arm tackles gave him 445 yards and six touchdowns. lining up behind him will be Alek Marroquin at 5 feet, 8 inches, who rushed for 665 yards and 11 touchdowns. Magana will have nathan carrion at wide receiver; he had 762 yards and five touchdowns last year. oFFenSive line The Emperors have plenty of good sized football players along the offensive line with four of the five spots spoken for. AJ Rodriguez will start at center at 6 feet, 4 inches and 290 pounds. The guards are Alex sandoval at 6 feet, 1 inch and 265 pounds, and Jose guido at 5 feet, 11 inches and 275 pounds. At right tackle is sergio lozano at 6 feet, 1 inch and 215 pounds. linebaCker The Emperors return only Roy Munoz at middle linebacker. According to coach scharton, the 5-foot, 7-inch and 185-pound Munoz is not the best tackler, however he is valued for his ability to back up the linemen. on either side of Munoz will be strong side linebacker Erik valencia at 5 feet, 10 inches, and weak side linebacker daniel long at 5 feet, 10 inches and 134 pounds. CornerbaCk anD SaFeTy Height may be an issue for the Emperors' secondary. Robert diaz returns at the corner position and, at 5 feet, 7 inches and 155 pounds, he had one interception in three games. The Emperors also brought up Jacob Huerta from junior varsity to start at the other corner. At 5 feet, 5 inches and 120 pounds, Huerta is valued for his speed, making him the best corner to be placed out on an island with the opponent's best receiver. DeFenSive line There will be a mix of new and familiar faces on the line for the Em- perors. Three-year starter Adam Aguilar at 6 feet has added 30 more pounds to enter this season weighing at 187. He had 40 tackles, three sacks and a blocked field goal last season. one of the new faces will be 5-foot, 9-inch and 260-pound senior sergio vejar. vejar's strength and ability to draw a double team makes him a good replacement for Josh grajeda at tackle.
