Tulare CounTy FooTball Preview 23 Redwood Rangers 2016 review Tulare County Football Preview predicted a fifth place finish for the Rangers last year, but Redwood ran past that prediction and over the competition. After opening the season with seven straight wins, Redwood's only regular season loss came to El Diamante in a trap game coming off a win against Hanford and a game against lowly Hanford West. The team eventually lost in the Valley quarter finals to Ridgeview. Key loSSeS Quarterback Frankie Ayon accounted for two-thirds of the Rang- ers' offense last year. Cooper Allen represented all but 4% of Redwood's kicking game. Michael Bean ran for nearly half of the team's rushing yards. And Kobe Garner led the team with 888 receiving yards. Needless to say, the Rangers need to expedite the expedition to find talent to fill these giant holes in team leader- ship. 2017 Preview In addition to an always competitive WYL, the Rangers have set up an equally difficult non-league schedule with games against Clovis East, Tulare Union and Tulare Western. Luckily, the team will have plenty of depth with a 65-man roster to give their two- way players a breath during the grueling schedule. This year's motto: "Everywhere else it's just football ... But this is Redwood football." PrediCTion You wouldn't think that a team that came out of nowhere to cap- ture a share of the league title could sneak up on teams, but it seems as if there is little buzz about a Ranger return to the top of the league. If Redwood can get more consistent play on the offen- sive line and cut down on mental letdowns, having other teams underestimate them might be the misdirection that Coach Shaun Ball's team needs to steal a few wins in some difficult games and stealth their way to an outright WYL title this year.
