Sessions adding 40 positions nationwide By DAN MUCKELBAUER Post Editor MILWAUKEE — As part of a trend that saw crime i n c r e a s e nationwide after a two- d e c a d e decline, U.S. A t t o r n e y General Jeff S e s s i o n s said that Milwaukee has been no e x c e p t i o n and will get two new federal prosecutors who will focus on violent crime. Nationwide, the U.S. Attorney's Office is adding 40 assistant U.S. attorneys. "These additional assistant United States attorneys can make an immediate impact," Sessions said. In the months to come, Sessions said he would like to see another 260 assistant U.S. attorneys hired, but he added that will require support from Congress. In a news conference Monday at the U.S. District Attorney's Office in downtown Milwaukee, Sessions said the city saw in two years a 57 per- cent jump in murder, a 21 per- cent increase in sexual assaults and a nine percent rise in assaults. A total of 1,540 homes were sold in November compared with 1,463 in November of 2016. According to GMAR, if the home sales of November 2017 are com- pared to the sales of November 2015, they increased 30.3 percent. During the month of November 2017, home sales increased the most in Ozaukee County at 12.4 percent, followed by Milwaukee County at 7 percent, Washington County at 4.7 percent and Waukesha County trailing at 0.5 percent. New home listings also were dismal in Waukesha County last month. The GMAR reported that listings declined 6.4 percent in Waukesha County and 6.2 percent in Milwaukee County, which are the two main generators of real estate activity in the metropolitan area. There were only four months of positive listings in 2017, according to the report. In November, the only metro-Milwaukee coun- ty to see an increase of listings was Ozaukee County at 6 percent. Washington County's listings declined at 1.7 percent. See SESSIONS on Page 3 Sessions Milwaukee County sales up 7%
