Forbes moved to the Northstate
after being recruited by Hanna and
Brophy in Redding, and later went
to work for Carr, Kennedy, Peter-
son and Frost where she started
her career in estate planning and
probate. She moved to Red Bluff
"I had just graduated when I was
recruited for the job in Redding
and drove through here and loved
it," Forbes said. "It got us out of
traffic and meant my husband, who
worked construction, and I could
see each other more."
Part of making a difference in the
world is being involved in the com-
munity, which for Forbes includes
being on the boards of the Mercy
Foundation and Northstate Sym-
phony along with being a member
of Kiwanis. Most recently, Forbes
and fellow attorney Laura Clark
re-established the Tehama County
Bar Association, which had been
inactive for a number of years, she
said. Another way she tries to give
back is in being a mentor to those
around her, including her staff.
"We need to know that each of us
have something to contribute and if
we share our gifts we can make a
difference," Forbes said.
She also feels it is important for
women going into business to
surround themselves with friends,
to find a sense of community and
to keep a good sense of humor to
keep from getting bogged down by
life's troubles.
Her faith is another thing that is
important for her and remembering
to seize the day, Forbes said.
"If we don't take the opportunities
God presents us and experience
life, we might have regrets and
life is for the living," Forbes said.
"Always remember to live in com-
munity and help the best way we
can. Being positive, having faith in
God and a we can do attitude goes
a long way. Anything is possible if
you set your mind to it."
