Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave, along with Mount Pleasant Village President Dave DeGroot, representa- tives of the Racine County Economic Development Corporation, Milwaukee 7, and Foxconn gathered Tuesday to announce the selected site for the future home of Foxconn's state-of-the-art advanced display manufactur- ing campus. "Racine County offers a talented, hard- working workforce, and presents an extraor- dinary opportunity for Foxconn. We look for- ward to working with leaders in the region to build a state-of-the-art advanced display man- ufacturing campus and lay the groundwork for economic success together," said Louis Woo, Foxconn special assistant to the chair- man and CEO of Foxconn, in a statement. Foxconn Technology Group IT the world's largest electronics manufacturing services provider and was wooed by Gov. Scott Walker with an incentives package to build its facili- ty in Wisconsin this summer. The Foxconn campus in Mount Pleasant will be located off of Interstate 94 between Highway 11 and Highway KR. The manufacturing campus will be approximately 20 million square feet — by far the largest project in the state, and one of the largest manufacturing campuses in the world. "We are thrilled that an international company of Foxconn's magnitude has recog- nized the opportunities available in Racine County," Delagrave said in a statement. "Foxconn has committed to an unprecedent- ed investment in our community and it will establish the foundation for unparalleled eco- nomic development, job growth and enhanced quality of life for current and future County residents." Foxconn is expected to hire thousands of new employees with an average salary of $53,000. An additional 150 suppliers are antic- ipated to locate in Wisconsin, bringing even more jobs and a new tax base. "The Village of Mount Pleasant and Racine County have been hard at work to craft a well thought-out, careful, and conser- vative local incentive package," said Claude Lois, project director for Mount Pleasant, in a statement. "We are committed to balancing the need to attract this long-term investment, while maintaining our commitment to local taxpayers." Foxconn is investing an estimated $10 bil- lion in Mount Pleasant, in the heart of Racine County. — Post Staff Foxconn chooses Mount Pleasant for manufacturing facility
