The former University of Wisconsin Badger and one of the best players in the NFL, who plays for the Houston Texans, had an initial modest goal of $200,000. Like the water that flooded the Houston area after the hurricane made landfall Aug. 25 in southern Texas, the fundraising goal kept rising until he just stopped raising the bar and let the donations pour in. Celebrities, athletes, corporations and kids with lemonade stands were some of the 209,429 donors that raised funds. The Green Bay Packers donated $100,000 on Aug. 31, but some large donors contributed $1 million and more. "There are not enough words to thank you all for your generosity," Watt tweeted out. "If there is one thing that I have taken away from these last few weeks, it is the reassurance of how much good is out there in our world. When times are the toughest, humanity stands at its strongest and you have all helped to prove that emphatically." Sept. 15 was officially the last day that JJ Watt's youcaring.com/jjwatt site was open J.J.Watt Harvey relief fundraiser tops $37M Houston Texan J.J. Watt, who played football at Pewaukee High School and the University of Wisconsin, raised more than $37 million for Hurricane Harvey relief. See WATTT on Page 3
